The Addams Family Callbacks

Thank you so much for auditioning for The Addams Family! Our team was so impressed by all of the talent that we saw this week!

DANCE CALL: Please note that not being called back doesn't mean that you will not be cast, as we are calling back for limited roles! Accordingly: PLEASE come to our OPEN dance call TODAY (Sept 6th) from 12-2 PM in Farkas 303 (elevator-accessible space)! This is mandatory for anyone called back and encouraged for all auditionees. Please wear clothes and shoes that you are comfortable moving in, and bring water! No dance experience is necessary! If you were called back and unable to attend dance call, please reach out to our stage manager (Daisha Clayton) ASAP for an asynchronous option.

CALLBACKS: Character-specific callbacks will take place TODAY (Sept 6th) from 3:30 PM-12 AM and TOMORROW (Sept 7th) from 10 AM-3 PM in the Horner Room at the Agassize Theater. Character information is provided below, and all materials for callbacks (vocal selections and sides) can be accessed in this folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HV5dqyXhMkztrP62MFYTgS8LoVkt5k2w?usp=sharing.

All vocal excerpts will be taught in callbacks, but we highly recommend reviewing them in advance. Please be sure to arrive 10 minutes early to each callback.

For the role of Wednesday, there will be second-round callbacks on Sunday. This information and relevant materials will be sent via email on Saturday night.

If you have ANY conflicts at all with your callbacks, please reach out IMMEDIATELY to our stage manager, Daisha Clayton. If you have overlapping callbacks with another HRDC show, please include both shows’ stage manager(s) in your email so that we can coordinate with each other.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS is the gothic big sister with her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility, who falls in love with a “normal” boy who she brings home to meet the family. Wednesday tries to balance her relationships with “strange” family with that of her new love and his “normal” family. Wednesday showcases compassion, stubbornness, and strong will. She has a strong belt.

Wednesday’s callback is TODAY (Sept 6) from 9-11PM in the Agassiz Theatre Horner Room. A second-round callback will take place TOMORROW (Sept 7) from 4:15-5PM; more information about this will be sent on Sunday morning.

GOMEZ ADDAMS is a suave man of Spanish descent who adores his wife and children and takes immense pride in being an Addams. Gomez finds himself trapped between his daughter and his wife, being forced to hide Wednesday’s big secret from Morticia.

MORTICIA ADDAMS is the beautiful and mysterious head of the Addams family who believes strongly in family tradition. Morticia is unnerved thinking that Gomez is hiding something from her. She is confident and sexy with a side of dry wit, and is a strong dancer.

PUGSLEY ADDAMS is the charming youngest of the Addams Family who loves to be tortured by his big sister. He is lost trying to figure out his place now that she has a new boyfriend and family dynamics are changing.

UNCLE FESTER is the lovable, childish, enthusiastic, and highly incorrigible narrator of the show who seeks to help Wednesday fall in love while himself falling in love with the Moon.

GRANDMA is fun, quirky and feisty, and always has a trick up her sleeve. She is wise, wacky and sometimes a bit crass, with great comedic timing and physicality.

LUCAS BEINEKE is the hopeful and romantic son of Alice and Mal, who has fallen in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. He is optimistic, yet struggles to find the balance between his ‘normal’ family and the wacky Addams Family.

ALICE BEINEKE, Lucas’s mother and Mal’s wife, is strongly devoted to her family. She presents herself as reserved and collected (even when speaking in rhyme), until she learns to unleash her wild side at dinner with the Addams.

MAL BEINEKE is the uptight father of Lucas and cold-shouldered husband to Alice, who meets the Addams with skepticism. He finds the Addams to be too bizarre for his liking and cannot fathom being related to them.

LURCH, a man of few words, is the Addams Family butler. His unmistakable commanding presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. He has great non-verbal story-telling abilities.
