Songs For A New World Callbacks

Thank you all so much for auditioning for Songs for a New World! We had an incredible array of auditions and were so genuinely impressed with each auditionee we saw <3

Songs for a New World will have two rounds of callbacks. Round 1 will be today (Saturday, February 1) and Round 2 will be tomorrow (Sunday, February 2). If you advance to Round 2, you will be notified tonight. Please access the following folder for information about callbacks, including information about music:

Individual character information is provided below. Please be sure to arrive ten minutes early to each callback.

If you have ANY conflicts at all with your callbacks, please reach out IMMEDIATELY to our stage manager, Nali Gone at [email protected]. If you have overlapping HRDC callbacks, please reach out to the stage managers for all shows in one email ASAP so that we can coordinate with each other.

"The King": Characterized by a constant hopefulness and self-assuredness no matter the circumstances—and a drive to prove himself.

Roles played: A 1492 sailor, a young man hoping to make it in professional basketball, an imprisoned king in an ambiguous time period, and a recently passed soldier.

"The Wanderer": Characterized by a restless quest to understand love: why we do it, when to fight for it, and how to find your identity outside of it.

Roles played: A man who feels he is being emotionally manipulated, a man who faced childhood adversity, a semi-recent college graduate returning home, a man reuniting with a lover after time away.

"The Dreamer": Characterized by a pursuit of strength and self-assurance, particularly strength born from the support of loved ones.

Roles played: A woman reflecting on her lover’s fear of commitment, an expectant mother, a woman reuniting with a lover after time away.

"The Fighter": Characterized by a desperate search for worth and identity in the face of the pain and hardships of love.

Roles played: An upper-class New York wife, a rich older woman reflecting on her past loves, Mrs. Claus, a flag-making wife/mother in 1775.
