The Penningtons Callbacks

We thank everyone who auditioned for The Penningtons for their time and efforts! We truly enjoyed seeing everyone’s audition and sincerely appreciate everyone’s talent and interest in our show.

We are excited to see everyone listed below for character callbacks during our callback times on Saturday and Sunday. Please arrive about 5-10 minutes before your call time. Callback times are broken down by character as follows:

FATHER: Saturday, 3:00-6:00 pm
DANIEL: Saturday, 3:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, 5:30-7:00 pm
FITCH: Saturday, 3:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, 4:00-5:30 pm
CHAR: Saturday, 3:00-6:00 pm
MOTHER: Saturday, 4:30-6:00 pm
LISA: Sunday, 5:30-7:00 pm
GIDEON: Sunday, 4:00-5:30 pm
All Callbacks are happening in Loeb Rehearsal Room C.

Please refer to the character descriptions in the Google Drive folder linked below, especially for characters that were not read during preliminary auditions. Please also note that LISA is a minor role that requires comfortability with intimacy with another actor — though the callback scenes do not include any intimacy. Training will be provided for this, but please reach out to Rave, Hannah, and Hugo for any questions or concerns about this (contact info below).

You can find the script excerpts we will be using for callbacks in the folder linked below. You are NOT expected to memorize or prepare anything in advance for callbacks, we only provide these excerpts in case you feel more comfortable going into callbacks knowing what you will read. We will have these printed for callbacks, but you are also welcome to read off your own iPad/tablet or print them yourself.

CHAR
  • Tia KwanBock
  • Grace Hur
CHAR is the only daughter and is struggling to grieve her deceased mother; she copes by speaking to her through songs and doing anything to connect with her, including taking up an interest in fashion design; she struggles deeply with grief, death, and lack of meaning.

FITCH

FITCH is the ex-golden boy whose gambling addiction and scandalous affairs have ostracized him from his family, and he longs to escape his life; the narrator of the show.

DANIEL
  • Isaac Newman

  • James Farr
DANIEL is the eldest child, who craves power and will obtain it by any means necessary–including murdering his dying father to become the CEO of the family business; he is impatient and will threaten, blackmail, and hurt anyone who gets in his way.

FATHER

FATHER is the nonchalant, wry-humored patriarch who is dying, with only a month to live, and is humorously trying to avoid coming to terms with his impending death–and any mention of the will, which leaves his children in suspense.

MOTHER

  • Irati Egorho Diez
MOTHER is the deceased mother of the Pennington children, as well as an ex-Playboy model; a warm and loving figure who helps Char understand that you can feel fulfilled in both life and art even without it having a “greater sense of meaning or purpose.”

GIDEON
  • Layo Oloritun
  • Michael Thomas
GIDEON is a fishing-loving country boy and Fitch’s ex, who wants nothing to do with Fitch after he walked out on their relationship. This is a minor role, but its performance requires much sincerity and earnestness.

Sunday, 4:00-5:30 pm
LISA

  • Amelia Tardy
LISA is Char’s friend and is sleeping with Daniel; she eventually shows him that he has a purpose beyond murder and power.
