Anastasia Callbacks

The Anastasia rehearsal team is so grateful for all the talented actors who came out to audition for our show these past four days!

It is highly encouraged that all auditionees attend our dance call today (Saturday, September 7) from 12-2 pm in Farkas Hall 303, which is an elevator-accessible studio. We recommend you wear comfortable athletic wear to the dance call (jeans do not count as athletic wear), and bring character shoes if you have them; otherwise, sneakers are acceptable. Actors who did not receive character-specific callbacks are still under consideration for casting, so please come and dance with us to show off your skills!

If you cannot attend the dance call, please reach out to our choreographers and stage managers ASAP so that we can arrange a virtual dance call. (Contact information is included at the end of this description.)

Please consult the Google Drive linked at the end of this paragraph to find the relevant vocal excerpts for callbacks. The music directors will be reviewing and teaching the excerpts during the first part of the callback, but we highly recommend viewing the music beforehand.

For the roles of Anya and Dmitry, some callbacks on Sunday will be second-round callbacks. This information will be sent by email on Saturday night.

Please plan to arrive at callbacks 10 minutes before they are scheduled to begin.

If you have ANY conflicts at all with your callbacks, please reach out IMMEDIATELY to BOTH of our stage managers, Em Barnes and Elizabeth Resner, at [email protected] and [email protected]. If you have overlapping callbacks with another HRDC show, please include both shows’ stage manager(s) in your email so that we can coordinate with each other.

When we first meet Anya, she is a lost soul, but one with great strength, pride, determination, and dignity. As the story progresses, she begins to discover her sense of self and the possibility that she may be the missing daughter of Tsar Nicholas.

Anya vocal callbacks are 10-11pm on Saturday, September 7 in the Loeb Rehearsal Room C.

Second-round Anya callbacks will be on Sunday, September 8 from 12:30-1:30pm and from 6:30-9:30pm in the Loeb Ex.

The prince of St. Petersburg’s black market, Dmitry is an opportunist trying to make it on the streets of Russia. He creates the scheme to find an Anastasia impersonator in order to gain the reward for her safe return. He’s tough, persuasive, and daring.

Dmitry vocal callbacks are from 9-10pm on Saturday, September 7 in the Loeb Rehearsal Room C.

Gleb is a son of the Russian revolution. As a career officer in the Bolshevik secret police, he is a passionate defender of the hard won gains of the new order. His connection to Anya puts him in violent conflict with himself. Which will he choose?

Before being Dmitry’s right-hand man, Vlad was a conman pretending to be a noble at the imperial court. He arranges a meeting between Anya and the Dowager Empress, and rekindles a passionate romance with Lily in the process.

The Dowager Empress’s confidante and lady-in-waiting. She’s compassionate, respectful, and good at her job, but has a frustration that she lets out in the Russian Neva Club each night. She rekindles a passionate love affair with Vlad when he comes to Paris.
