ABOUT THE SHOW
How can society continue to grow and develop if we cannot face and reflect upon the ugliness brought on by both our own personal mistakes and those committed by society at large?
On November 21, 1963, three young marines celebrate their last night at home with a “dogfight”, a cruel bet where each man attempts to find the ugliest girl he can to win. But when Eddie Birdlace meets idealistic waitress Rose Fenny, she begins to teach him about love and compassion, prompting us to examine the ugliness brought on by the not-so-glamorous reality of what was acceptable in the 1960s. Through Eddie’s personal reflection, we are offered a story that explores the process of reconciliation with past mistakes like those of toxic masculinity, overt misogyny, and struggles of self-esteem in a beauty-centric society that are unfortunately still a major part of our society today.
