ABOUT THE SHOW

Lidless is set in a parallel near-future in which Guantanamo has been shut down and converted into a tourist resort. Fifteen years later, Bashir, a former prisoner suffering from hepatitis contracted during the torture he underwent, needs a liver transplant and seeks out Alice, who interrogated, tortured, and raped him in Guantanamo. Alice has since taken pills provided by the government to erase her memories in an effort to prevent PTSD, so she now lives a “normal” family life with her husband Lucas and daughter Rhiannon, blissfully unaware of the past. Bashir’s reappearance disrupts all of this, forcing her to confront the person she was and perhaps still is. Together, they must acknowledge the trauma of their past and find a way to move forward.

This performance may not be suitable for children; contents deal with sexual assault and military torture and include explicit language.
